Preg-CoV study - chance to help with national research study

We have a great opportunity for 2-3 NW paediatric trainees to get involved with the Preg-CoV study: a multi-centre UK study looking into COVID-19 vaccines and their impact on maternal, foetal, and infant health.

The team at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester needs some clinicians to undertake a very small number of examinations of 12-month-olds. The total number of examinations is only 10 over a 9-month period. Each examination would only take 15-30 minutes and will be in normal working hours. This will be a fantastic opportunity to see how big trials work, get some experience, something for the CV and also £25 per examination.

Appointments will be arranged in advance so trainees know when they would need to be available. If you would like to be involved and on the delegation log then please get in touch within the next week. If we have high demand for these roles then we will choose based on trainee suitability so please provide a couple of lines saying why you'd like to do this.

New Publication in Digital Health

Well done to PRIME co-founder and Congenital Hyperinsulinism Clinical Research Fellow, Dr Chris Worth, for publishing in Digital Health. The team have developed HYPO-CHEAT, a data aggregation and visualisation technique to help families with congenital hyperinsulinism use CGM to find patterns in hypoglycaemia.

New Research Opportunity - Asthma Diagnostics Study!

Prof Clare Murray, Senior Lecturer and Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, is running an asthma diagnostics study and would like a paediatric trainee to help with research activities, such as screening, consent, data collection, and management. This would be a paid opportunity to get some real-world research experience with an amazing research group. It would require a commitment of one day per week for six months.

Prof Murray is happy for this opportunity to be flexible and trainees who are interested could undertake extra data analysis for work towards publications/posters/presentations.

If you are keen but don't have a day a week to commit to this (e.g. not LTFT) then please get in touch anyway and we can try and help with negotiations with the Training Programme Director to possibly incorporate this into your job plan (no promises but we're happy to help try).
