Fully Funded Clinical Research Fellowship!
There is a very exciting opportunity for a paediatric trainee to join the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre in Manchester to undertake postgraduate research training AND gain a PhD. It would be great as an OOPE/OOPR!
This three year full-time position is funded as part of the ERC Metformin Impact in Maternal and Infant Cardiometabolic Health (MIMICH) study. The MIMICH study is led by Professor Jenny Myers, who will be the primary supervisor of the research and leads an established team of clinical and non-clinical research scientists.
The purpose of the research is to:
· Understand the impact of metformin exposure in pregnancy on infant growth and weight gain
· Determine whether in utero metformin exposure is associated with a change in the metabolic health of infants in the first year of life
The successful candidate will be be required to develop a research portfolio within the agreed aims of the PhD, adhere and complete milestones as set out within the University of Manchester PhD postgraduate programme, aim to publish work during/at completion of the PhD, contribute to departmental meetings and seminar series, submit progress reports to the sponsor and the study oversight committee as requested, and contribute to publicity and fundraising activities on behalf of the funder.
